Hi Everyone,

My name is Kenny Gee and I'm a 2nd year director at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts Asia. I'm looking to audition and cast my new short film "Better The Devil You Know", which goes into production the week of November 23rd 2009. In a nutshell, the film's a dramedy that revolves around a boy who hates going to church and his mom who drags him there every week. Things go awry for the both of them when the boy gets cast as The Devil in the annual church play.

Here's what I'm looking for:

TYLER - A precocious young lad with a fierce intelligence that could only mean mischief. (Male, 10-14 years old)
HELEN - Tyler's single mother. A doggedly determined lady who can smell trouble coming from a mile away. (Female, Late 30's-Early 40s)

I'm also looking for various supporting cast members, predominantly WOMEN (Mid-30's to Early 40's) and CHILDREN (10-15 years of age). All interested parties should come equipped with a positive attitude, willingness to participate, and a healthy sense of humor! I should also mention that as this is a student production, it's also a non-paying gig. However, actors who land parts will be well-fed and provided with money for transportation. Director's Bio:
Kenny Gee is an up-and-coming Singaporean filmmaker currently pursuing an MFA at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts Asia. He graduated from the National University of Singapore in 2007 with First Class Honours in English Literature, where he wrote his thesis on the films of David Mamet. At Tisch Asia, he has studied with filmmaking luminaries such as Oliver Stone and Todd Solondz, amongst others. In 2009, Kenny was made a recipient of the Media Development Authority of Singapore (MDA)'s Media Education Scheme scholarship. His first short film produced at NYU, 'Meat At Block 320', was selected and screened at the 21st Singapore International Film Festival and the 5th Singapore Short Film Festival, where it won The Voice Award

Meat At Block 320 won the Voice Award at the 5th Singapore Short Film Festival awarded to the top 3 International and Local films! My first ever award at a festival, thrilled beyond words. In all honestly, I have to thank all my friends who came down and voted, don't think I would've walked away with anything otherwise.

first week down. 6 to go before production period starts on 2nd year films. i have no script. at least, nothing i'm excited and pumped up about. funny how the walls can crash down around you so easily.

today was one of the worst days i've had yet at NYU. it was also the first day of 'writers' boot camp', our return as 2nd years to the campus, the start of a bright new year of learning and filmmaking adventure.

and what a start it was, in the worst possible way. in summary, i have never at this school been so disrespectfully dismissed, insulted and worst of all demoralized in all my time here, for my mere inclinations as a genre filmmaker (i.e fantasy, sci-fi, crime, superhero--the WORST KIND).

i will not bow down to your fucking standards, you ignorant cunt. that i even hesitated to contemplate any other course of action shames me and makes me sick to my bones. i will not compromise for you, EVER!!!

Last Month Of The Summer

So I'm weeks away from school starting up again. Many things accomplished in the past couple of months, many things still left undone. I directed my first ever music video for A Vacant Affair's "We Are Not The Same". Awesome band, awesome extras/fans, and awesome crew considering we put together everything in a week and at the very last minute. Thank you Basil, Wai, Angelo and Philip DeRise for helping out. And thanks to AVA for giving me the opportunity. Footage is half logged as we speak.

Need to write 2nd year script. Busy busy.
